Exhibition Introduction: DEEP LISTENING <Tabula Rasa: Silence, Before> presents the 'music' contained in the 1984 album TABULA RASA by the German record label ECM, known for the phrase 'the most beautiful sound after silence.' This exhibition allows visitors to listen to Arvo Pärt's album TABULA RASA from beginning to end. In an era where music is often heard as background noise, this exhibition redefines the meaning of 'DEEP LISTENING.' In addition to photo and video exhibits, visitors will experience a space where the album's tracks are played sequentially from the entrance. The music played on vinyl, cassette tapes, and digital formats, alternates between lo-fi and hi-fi audio.

DLS creates products and handles planning and production for sustainable exhibitions and fairs. For the DEEP LISTENING <𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐔𝐋𝐀 𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐀: Silence, Before> exhibition, We participated in producing space, fixtures, and goods using Tyvek materials. The reason why Tyvek material was used in this exhibition is as follows.

: Material-specific texture / Proper light transmittance / Ease of fabrication and finishing / Recyclable and Circular Materials

In addition, Tyvec is widely used for medical purposes because it does not generate dust. Since dust is one of the factors that degrades the sound quality (especially analogue equipment), these material characteristics were suitable for the space where people listen to music. The final version is as follows.

- Fabric Module: Based on the interior studio SPTL consulting, 6*20M modules were manufactured.

- Beanbag: We have produced three types of beanbags: fillings, lining (fabric), and outer (Tyvek).

- Eco-bag: To capture the mood of the space as it is, the materials used in the production process are made to look as they are without a separate finish.

딥 리스닝 <Tabula Rasa 침묵(沈默), 그 이전>은 ‘침묵 다음으로 아름다운 소리’로 회자되는 독일의 음반 레이블 ECM이 1984년 발매한 음반 <TABULA RASA>에 담긴 ‘음악’을 전시합니다. 아르보 패르트의 음반 <TABULA RASA>를 처음부터 끝까지 감상하게 되는 이번 전시는 음악을 쉽게 배경음악처럼 듣는 오늘날, ‘DEEP LISTENING’의 의미를 새롭게 경험하게 합니다. 사진과 영상 작품 전시는 물론, 관람객들은 입구에서부터 음반의 수록곡을 순차적으로 들을 수 있도록 구성된 공간을 경험하게 되며, 바이닐, 카세트 테이프, 디지털 등 다양하게 재생되는 음악은 로우파이와 하이파이 오디오를 넘나듭니다.

DEEP LISTENING <𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐔𝐋𝐀 𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐀 침묵(沈默), 그 이전> 전시에 @dls.world_official 가 타이벡 소재를 활용한 공간/집기/굿즈 제작에 참여했습니다. 타이벡 소재가 이번 전시에 사용된 이유는 아래와 같습니다.
: 소재 고유의 텍스쳐 / 적절한 빛 투과성 / 제작 및 마감의 편의성 / 재활용이 가능해 선순환되는 재료
그리고, 타이벡은 먼지가 발생하지 않아서 의료용으로도 많이 사용되는데요. 먼지는 음질을 저하(특히 아날로그 장비)시키는 요인 중 하나이기 때문에, 이러한 소재의 특징이 음악을 감상하는 공간에 적합했습니다. 최종 제작물은 아래와 같습니다.
- 원단 모듈 : 인테리어 스튜디오 SPTL 컨설팅/피드백을 바탕으로, 6*20M 모듈을 필요한 수량에 맞춰 제작하였습니다.
- 빈백 : 충전재, 안감(원단), 겉감(타이벡)으로 이뤄진 빈백 3종을 제작하였습니다.
- 에코백 : 공간의 무드를 그대로 담아내기 위해, 별도의 마감을 하지 않고 제작 과정에서 사용된 소재들이 그대로 보이게 제작하였습니다.
